Urban Administration
- Urban areas like towns and cities are managed by local bodies such as Municipal Corporations and Municipalities.
- These bodies ensure services like water supply, garbage collection, street lighting, etc.
Life in the City
- City life depends on many services:
- Clean roads and garbage collection
- Safe drinking water
- Electricity and streetlights
- Parks and public toilets
- These services are managed by the Municipal Corporation.
Who Cleans the City?
- Sanitation workers or municipal workers clean the streets and collect garbage.
- They are appointed by the Municipal Corporation.
The Municipal Corporation
- Responsible for managing city services.
- Divided into wards (small areas of the city).
- Each ward elects a Ward Councillor.
- The Mayor is the head of the Municipal Corporation.
Municipal Corporation duties include
- Maintaining roads and parks
- Providing water supply and sewage services
- Managing garbage disposal
- Keeping birth and death records
Ward Councillors and Committees
